About us
Graze is published by Joel and Ruth McNair.
Joel, raised on a southern Wisconsin livestock farm, is a veteran agricultural journalist who has been writing about—and practicing—grazing for nearly 20 years. Ruth, also raised on a small farm, edits sustainable agriculture publications for the University of Wisconsin in addition to her duties with Graze. We have two children, Angus and Molly.
We also graze beef cattle, sheep and dairy heifers on 35 acres of managed pastures. We direct-market grass-finished beef and lamb, and sell Romney wool to handspinners. We've been at this long enough to know that there are many ways to do grazing. We don't have any agendas, because we've seen lots of different ways work for different people. We prefer to let "those who do" do the talking, and let you figure out whether what they're saying makes sense for you!
